Recovery from the Orange Blues

I finally sorted out something that was driving me crazy.

In the photos, my Mad Men dress from last week looks like it was made out of “Tangerine Tango” fabric, Pantone’s spring color of the year. It wasn’t until I settled on a color combo for this week’s Pantone Spring 2012 Color Challenge and sewed up the fabrics that I confirmed what I knew to be the truth….the Mad Men dress is a rust-colored orange not tangerine at all!

This kona cotton, however, is TOTALLY TANGERINE. Case closed.

I know those moments well. Had this red, so red it looked orange I had to get a swatch of orange to stare and compare.
